Episteme is constituted as a statewide association in October 2015. Its mission is to study, evaluate and intervene in social reality. Its objectives include: improving the quality of life of citizens, promoting social equity, enhancing social cohesion and ensuring human and individual rights, especially among vulnerable groups. Its vision is to become a third sector entity specialized in research, evaluation and social intervention.

The application of the results should favor the implementation of effective public policies and the taking of decisions based on scientific evidence. Episteme is based on the values of tolerance, respect for diversity, ethics, the defense of human rights and individual liberties. The tools to defend and promote our values are professionalism, rigor, transparency, social commitment and technical solvency.

Episteme aims to contribute, from research, evaluation and direct intervention, to improving our society. In this sense, it wants to join the work carried out by the entities of the third sector in our context, through synergies that allow improving the effectiveness and efficiency of social intervention projects.

The theoretical bases of Episteme are supported by the critical and comprehensive currents of the Social Sciences. Among the different methods used, we highlight the genealogical because it allows us to understand the sociohistorical processes that have enabled and shape the different phenomena of study and ethnography that allow us to account for the social reality in which the protagonists of our work live. Knowing deeply the processes and collectives becomes capital to intervene and improve their living conditions and social cohesion. Understanding the historical development in the construction of social reality is crucial if we want to understand it and transform it, in this line, our work philosophy incorporates the gender perspective, discourse analysis, the study of the processes of hegemony-subalternity and normality- abnormality, community processes, the stigmatization dynamics and the analysis of contextual factors.

The purpose is to offer empirical works, theoretically robust, but applicable to the environment on which we want to intervene. The knowledge generated should be aimed at improving living conditions and transforming society to equalize the rights of vulnerable groups, such as victims of stigmatization, violence, social exclusion and drug addiction. Participation in the community scope allows the empowerment of the groups involved in the intervention.

Episteme offers support to entities that want to improve the evaluation of their projects, the theoretical and epistemological foundation of their interventions, so we can optimize the generation of knowledge, innovation and intervention.

Areas of activity

Western societies are experiencing moments of uncertainty. More and more collectives are in a situation of social vulnerability. Administrations and private organizations must have a substantive knowledge to successfully apply any action aimed at social groups. The Episteme team has extensive experience in sociological research, both qualitative and quantitative, in the design and execution of research. Episteme is committed to generating knowledge in order to apply it socially. Our maxim: all research connects with the intervention.

Intervening in the social reality to transform it is fundamental in post-industrial societies, but mere intervention does not guarantee an improvement in the quality of life of people. The intervention must be effective, efficient and also efficient. Episteme offers evaluation methodologies (necessity, process and impact) for all types of social intervention projects.

Audiovisual production

The “global village” is digital and audiovisual. Intervention strategies require attractive and rapid supports in the society of the instantaneous and ephemeral. Audiovisual supports are ideal for glossing the results of a research, a social intervention project or certain public policies, or also to execute a preventive project, aimed especially at the youngest. Episteme prepares audiovisual documents with the intention of improving intervention and communication strategies.

Knowing the reality that surrounds us is fundamental if we want to intervene on it. The people of the 21st century must be attentive to the continuous innovations of our dynamic and changing society. Episteme offers specialized training on research methodologies and social intervention, strategic design of projects and drug policies.

Advice & consulting

Work in certain areas of social reality requires a strong specialization and a remarkable knowledge of social contexts. Episteme offers advisory services and consultancy in strategic areas such as drug policies.
